What does cyber insurance cover?
Europ Assistance's Cyber insurance covers you in the event of a cyber-attack, cyber-harassment, fraudulent purchases by a third party, fraudulent offers or non-compliant delivery during an online purchase. This means that in the event of a problem, Europ Assistance will reimburse your expenses up to the maximum amounts indicated in our General Terms and Conditions.
Cyber insurance also gives you access to technical assistance from 8am to 10pm, 6 days a week.
What are the maximum amounts covered by cyber insurance?
In the event of a cyber attack, Cyber insurance covers you for up to CHF 2'000 for the cost of removing the malware or virus and reinstalling the system. It covers up to CHF 5'000 for data recovery.
In the event of cyberbullying, Cyber insurance covers you for up to CHF 2'000 towards the cost of removing, deleting or re-indexing content that damages your reputation. If you need psychological support after being the victim of cyberbullying, Europ Assistance will put you in touch with psychologists and reimburse you for up to CHF 5'000.
In the event of fraudulent use of your personal data for online purchases, Europ Assistance will reimburse your losses and the costs of deleting the false profile or customer account concerned up to a maximum of CHF 2'000.
If you are the victim of a fraudulent offer when booking accommodation on the Internet, Europ Assistance will reimburse your losses due to your reservation up to a maximum of CHF 2'000.
In the event of non-conforming delivery of an item purchased online (and insured in accordance with our CGAs), Europ Assistance will reimburse you for the return costs and/or the purchase price of the item up to a maximum of CHF 5'000.
When can I call on technical assistance?
The following incidents are covered by Europ Assistance Cyber insurance, which provides you with an IT advice and assistance service: a problem connecting to a computer, network or application, a hardware or software problem, a problem linked to suspicious activity on a computer or network.
What is a cyber-attack?
You are the victim of a cyber-attack when your computer or any other connected device is infected by malicious software or a malicious site.
The aim of a cyber-attack is often to steal sensitive data, expose or modify it, or even destroy it.
What is considered to be online harassment?
According to our General Terms and Conditions, online harassment is an attack on a person's personality resulting from an insult, defamation or slander, committed by means of electronic media such as social networks, blogs, websites, etc. This attack must be recognizable by third parties in order to be considered as cyber-harassment.
What is considered a fraudulent purchase by a third party?
Someone usurps your identity by creating false profiles and/or using your personal data (obtained via a cyber-attack) to make online purchases.
When shopping online, when am I covered by cyber insurance?
When you place an order online for an item insured under our GTI, you are covered by cyber insurance if :
- The item has not been delivered (more than 60 days since payment, no news from the seller)
- The item was delivered too late and is no longer useful (more than 30 days since payment)
- The item is unsatisfactory on delivery (incomplete, damaged, does not correspond to the order - the seller was notified within 30 days of receipt of the item).
What types of objects are covered by Cyber insurance?
Cyber insurance covers household effects intended for personal use, purchased and delivered from Switzerland or a member country of the EEA for a minimum amount of CHF 50 including tax, excluding delivery or assembly costs.
