Assistance abroad: help and support wherever you are

All our insurances include assistance abroad, so you're protected if anything should happen to you while traveling.

You'll be covered in the event of an accident, illness, pregnancy complication, disappearance or death.

Medical assistance abroad is our core business; it's in the DNA of Europ Assistance, whose founder created the concept of personal assistance in 1963.  When you travel with us, you can be sure of being rescued, helped and transported by the best medical teams with whom we collaborate all over the world. You'll benefit from the world's largest assistance network, covering no fewer than 200 countries, and with over 60 years' experience in this field, you can trust us to take care of you and get you back home safely.

Search & rescue

Specific organisations specialise in searches for missing persons and/or rescue operations (at sea, in the mountains, etc.). Travel insurance then contributes to the cost of the operation, which can be very high depending on the level of assistance required.  A mountain rescue in Switzerland using a helicopter can cost several thousand Swiss francs...

Emergency transport abroad

If something happens to you (accident, illness) while you're travelling, with our assistance cover abroad, we'll organise and pay for emergency transport to a hospital (based on a doctor's decision). One call is all it takes and we'll do everything we can to get you out of an uncomfortable situation and ensure your health. In order to determine the best way for us to assist you abroad, our doctors will liaise with the local doctor to decide on the procedure to follow. So you'll be in safe hands, wherever you are in the world.

Repatriation to Switzerland

Just like emergency transport, thanks to our assistance cover abroad, we organise and pay for your repatriation from over 200 countries to Switzerland in the event of an accident or illness that interrupts your trip. After consulting the doctors at your travel destination, the insurance doctors will organise your return home if you are able to be transported. In the event of death, we will also organise the repatriation of the body to Switzerland.

How can I benefit from medical assistance abroad?

At Europ Assistance, we consider this guarantee to be essential: it is therefore included in all options. Everything mentioned above is therefore covered.

Not all insurances offer medical assistance abroad, so it is essential to check your health insurance or accident insurance cover to see if you are protected. As a general rule, the amounts covered are very limited, depending on the country you are visiting, and repatriation is rarely organised or paid for.

Beware: repatriation from abroad without appropriate cover can be extremely expensive (over CHF 10'000). This is one of the most important types of cover when you take out travel insurance, so don't overlook it.

At Europ Assistance, we are one of the few insurers to offer unlimited cover for repatriation, emergency transport and search & rescue.

When should I take out travel insurance?

Ideally, you should take out travel insurance on the day you buy it, so that it covers you as soon as possible in the event of an event preventing you from leaving. You are covered from the day you take out the policy, even if your trip is still a few weeks away. Assistance cover abroad will take effect as soon as you leave for your destination.

Protect yourself and your loved ones before and during your travels

All our packages include medical assistance abroad with no excess and unlimited cover.

As well as medical assistance, it's also important to insure yourself against the unexpected, which is why we've created tailor-made insurance policies to protect you and your loved ones, whether for a single trip or for the whole year.

Our Comfort option, the most recommended, will protect you in the event of cancellation or interruption, if you lose your luggage, if you are hospitalised or repatriated, and even if your pet prevents you from leaving because it is ill...

Take advantage of our rates from chf 46 for one trip and from chf 120 for the whole year

Why choose comprehensive travel insurance?

Are you unable to go on holiday due to illness or accident?

Do you have to interrupt your trip and return early?

Did your luggage not arrive at your destination?

Travel insurance covers you before and during your stay for these and many other unforeseen events.

It also gives you peace of mind and financial protection.

An accident while travelling can quickly become very expensive.

Repatriation from any country can often cost several thousand or even tens of thousands of Swiss francs. Not to mention the cost of interrupting your journey, the impact on the journey of those accompanying you, the cost of recovery, and so on. That's why travel insurance is essential.

Your basic insurance and accident cover will only cover a tiny fraction of what you'll have to pay, so it's essential to protect yourself further. You can calculate your premium free of charge here
