Insurance and assistance in the mountains

Summer or winter, when you go on a holiday in the mountains and plan activities such as skiing or downhill mountain biking, you need to be well protected. Whether it's in the event of cancellation or in the event of an accident and the need for assistance.
Our mountain insurance covers you in the event of the unexpected: you have to cancel your holiday and you've booked ski lessons? Have you already hired your ski equipment? Have you booked your ski pass for several days and won't be using it? In these cases, you can be reimbursed.

Unused ski pass insurance

If you have bought your ski pass for a few days or for the season, but you are unable to go on the slopes, Europ Assistance's ski pass insurance will reimburse your unused ski pass on a pro rata basis.

The cases covered will be :

- Accident, illness or death
- Weather conditions: storm, avalanche risk, reduction in the number of ski lifts, etc.

Ski lesson and equipment hire insurance

In the same way that ski insurance protects your ski pass, it also covers ski or snowboard lessons that you have booked and paid for but which you are unable to attend.

Have you hired skis, poles and helmets to take down the slopes during your stay in the mountains? You will also be reimbursed for any rental equipment associated with the unused ski pass.

Assistance in the resort area

In the event of an accident on the ski slopes, mountain insurance covers you. The Assist' option from Europ Assistance offers you all these guarantees:

- You will be reimbursed for search and rescue costs incurred by the resort's emergency services.
- You will be reimbursed for the cost of transport by ambulance or helicopter to a hospital in Switzerland.
- You will be reimbursed for emergency medical expenses in Switzerland and repatriation to your home.

The insurance also covers the services of a driver to repatriate your vehicle if you are unable to drive.

How do I take out insurance for my ski pass?

At Europ Assistance, we offer two options, Assur' and Assist', to insure your ski pass and everything connected with it: lessons, hire equipment, etc. If you want assistance, you should opt for the Assist' option.

To subscribe, simply go online and you will receive your insurance policy immediately by email.

When should you take out ski insurance?

Ideally, you should take out ski insurance on the day you buy your ski pass, so that it covers you as soon as possible in the event of an incident that prevents you from going out on the slopes. You are covered from the day you take out the policy, even if your ski pass is for a holiday that is still a few weeks away.

Why choose ski insurance?

Can't go skiing because you're ill or have an accident?

Does something happen to you on the slopes during your ski holiday?

Mountain insurance covers your ski pass before and during your stay for these and many other unforeseen events.

It also gives you peace of mind and financial protection.

An accident on the Swiss slopes can quickly become very expensive.

A rescue or evacuation from the slopes by helicopter following an accident can cost several thousand Swiss francs. And that's not counting the ski pass you've paid for and won't be using again, the equipment you've hired, the cost of repatriating your car if you can no longer drive home, etc.

Your basic insurance and accident cover will only cover a tiny fraction of what you'll have to pay, so it's essential to protect yourself further. You can calculate your premium free of charge here.
