Travel insurance for your cruise: protection for a worry-free trip

Discovering the world on the high seas or simply following the course of a river, cruises allow you to see incredible landscapes and wake up in a new place every day. They're ideal when you don't have much time for short cruises, or just want to take the time to sail over several weeks. Once you're on the boat, you'll often find that everything is taken care of, with leisure activities, entertainment and all-you-can-eat buffets. So you can relax and make the most of your holiday at sea.

But what happens if something goes wrong on the boat or even before your cruise?

Cruise travel insurance is essential not only to protect you financially, but also to ensure that you have the assistance you need if you fall ill or have an accident.

Can't make it to the port where your cruise starts? Cancellation cover covers the costs you would have to pay (see cases covered in our GTCs).

Do you have a health problem at sea? Medical cover will cover your costs and assistance/repatriation will take care of you if necessary.

Whether you're cruising for a few days or several months, our insurance policies cover you in Switzerland, Europe or anywhere in the world.

Choose the most comprehensive Comfort option so you don't have to worry about a thing: you'll benefit from all our guarantees, with some of the highest reimbursements on the market. Cancellation and interruption, emergency transport, repatriation, 24-hour assistance with a dedicated number, luggage cover, medical expenses abroad... Everything is included from just CHF 58 for one trip.

Temporary or annual travel insurance?

If you're going on an occasional cruise and you're sure you won't be going back for the next 365 days (weekends, holidays or any trip of 30km or more away from home), opt for temporary insurance: you're only covered for the cruise you're going on.

On the other hand, if you plan to travel at least 3 times a year (or go on a cruise with your family), it's much better to opt for annual insurance: this will cover your cruise, weekends or other holidays at a very competitive rate. The number of trips is unlimited.

You can take out the Essential option for as little as CHF 120 as an individual or CHF 190 as a family.

Why choose travel insurance for a cruise?

The unexpected can happen quickly, even on a cruise at sea or on land during your excursions. And for peace of mind, there's nothing like travel insurance.

Travel insurance covers travellers before and during the cruise against many unforeseen events.

It also gives you peace of mind and financial protection.

An accident while travelling can quickly become very expensive.

Repatriation often costs several thousand Swiss francs. Not to mention the cost of interrupting your trip, the impact on the travel of those accompanying you... That's why travel insurance is essential.

Your basic insurance and accident cover will only cover a tiny fraction of what you'll have to pay, so it's essential to protect yourself further. You can calculate your premium free of charge here.
