What to visit in Italy Here are 3 destinations not to be missed!
Rome, the ancient city
Known as the "eternal city" for its grandeur and timelessness. The capital of Italy, it was founded in 753 BC by Romulus, and today it is the country's economic and cultural hub, with architectural treasures that bear witness to a great history. The Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the many churches... there's so much to see here! And don't miss the Vatican Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. Plan to spend several days there if you really want to make the most of it.
The Cinque Terre
Just a few hours' drive from Switzerland, one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, with 5 villages clinging to the land and overlooking an incredibly blue sea. Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore can be visited one after the other, and can be reached by train or on foot... Situated between Genoa and La Spezia, the magnificent landscapes they offer, with their colorful houses, resemble a postcard. It's a unique setting, ideal for a romantic or family getaway.

The island of Sardinia
Just south of Corsica, 2,000 km of white-sand coastline and turquoise-blue waters await you for relaxation, coastal and mountain hiking, sunbathing and cultural visits. Sicily is often mentioned when talking about the Italian islands, but Sardinia is also a beautiful destination.
Of course, this list is far from complete, as there are so many things to see in Italy. The Leaning Tower of Pisa, Florence, the canals of Venice, Pompeii... You'll have to return to this magnificent country several times to discover all its wonders!
What to do in Italy: here are 3 you won't want to miss!
Attend an Italian opera
Italian is the language of music and opera. The country itself is the cradle of a unique genre that has greatly inspired the whole of Europe, and has been represented by such great talents as Verdi (La Traviata, Rigoletto), Puccini (La Bohème, Tosca) and Rossini (Otello, The Barber of Seville).
If you're ever in Italy and have the chance, get your opera tickets!
Tasting gelato!
It's well known that Italy is THE country of gelato. Whether in a jar or a cone, it's clearly a local specialty not to be missed. Wherever you are, you'll have no trouble finding a gelateria where you can try out new flavors or stick to the tried-and-true...chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, pistachio, hazelnut (from Piedmont!)...It would take years to taste them all!

Try a via ferrata
Sensitive souls, please refrain! Via ferrata is no ordinary activity, and requires a good level of physical fitness. It's a combination of hiking and climbing that offers a sporting challenge in the midst of sumptuous natural landscapes. Originating in Italy, via ferrata involves following a path between rock faces while clinging to a lifeline. To discover the most beautiful via ferrata, the Dolomites are the place to go, although there are many throughout the country.

To cover all eventualities and unforeseen events, think about travel insurance.
The EHIC
The European Health Insurance Card is available to all European citizens (including those in Switzerland), giving them access to public medical facilities on the same basis as locally insured persons. In Italy, you'll have no problem using it. But beware: this card has its limits and cannot stand alone, as reimbursements are often low, and in the case of repatriation for medical reasons, for example, the costs incurred are not covered.
