Mountain sports insurance: peace of mind in the mountains

Mountain sports*

All year round and in every season, the mountains have so much to offer. As well as its rich landscapes, the mountains offer a wide range of sports and leisure activities throughout the year. Hiking, skiing, mountain trails... Here's a selection of mountain sports you should not hesitate to try out:

Hiking in the mountains

Millions of people go hiking every year. Hiking is very popular in the mountains, and can take different forms depending on the level of fitness required for the route and the outdoor conditions. In winter, for example, you can use snowshoes to get around in the snow.

Trekking

A trek is a journey on foot comparable to an itinerant hike over several days. In total, it can involve several dozen, if not hundreds of kilometres of walking. Trekking involves staying in refuges along the way or camping out. A unique experience close to nature!

Trail running in the mountains

Trail is the abbreviation for "trail running". In practical terms, trail running is running in a natural environment. More physical than mountain hiking, this activity combines physical performance with the discovery of nature.

Via ferrata

Originating in Italy, via ferrata is a fun mountain activity that's a cross between hiking and climbing. Secured by a lifeline, participants follow an itinerary built between rock faces.
Aerial bridges, cables, ladders... The via ferrata is a real acrobatic challenge in direct contact with nature!

Mountain biking

Mountain biking is a rewarding experience off the beaten track and off the tarmac. The starting point is often at the top of the ski lifts on a bike fitted with double suspension. This absorbs shocks and allows you to take full advantage of the slopes and mountainous terrain.

Canyoning

Canyoning is a clever mix of hiking, via ferrata, mountaineering and water sports. Diving from the top of a waterfall, sliding, swimming in gorges... The itineraries, more or less aquatic and technical, are suitable for everyone. It's the perfect way to get your thrills!

The mountains are a magnificent natural environment. But beware, it can also be dangerous. It's not impossible, for example, to get lost while hiking, to injure yourself at the top of the ski slopes, to suffer a health problem in the middle of a trail run... To enjoy your mountain sports with peace of mind, don't wait to take out suitable mountain sports insurance.

Which mountain sports insurance should you choose?

Ski pass insurance is highly recommended for mountain sports enthusiasts of all levels, from amateurs to beginners. There are many risks in the mountains, and accidents are rarely trivial. Even a simple fall on a marked ski run can require the intervention of qualified personnel and the use of techniques adapted to the terrain (helicopter rescue, towing, etc.).

There may be a charge for mountain rescue services on marked ski slopes. Rescue on ski slopes can be expensive, and even more so when the rescue takes place off the slopes.
