A rescue or evacuation from the slopes by helicopter following an accident can cost several thousand Swiss francs. And that's not counting the ski pass you've paid for and won't be using again, the equipment you've hired, the cost of repatriating your car if you can no longer drive home, etc.
Your basic insurance and accident cover will only cover a tiny fraction of what you'll have to pay, so it's essential to protect yourself further. You can calculate your premium free of charge here.
Ideally, you should take out ski insurance on the day you buy your ski pass, so that it covers you as soon as possible in the event of an incident that prevents you from going out on the slopes. You are covered from the day you take out the policy, even if your ski pass is for a holiday that is still a few weeks away.
Summer or winter, in the event of unforeseen circumstances, your ski pass is insured. You'll be reimbursed up to CHF 2,000 per year.
